Ted launched his pilot app to translate downscaled climate-model forecasts into locally relevant cues for indigenous farmers and ranchers. Read all about it at Thriving Earth Exchange!
American Geophysical Union’s Thriving Earth Exchange, in association with Amazon Web Services, has awarded Ted $15,000 of on-demand cloud services to develop scalable tools to access, analyze, and interpret downscaled climate projections for agricultural and pastoral communities, beginning with the Lakota and Dakota people in the northern Great Plains.
He'll talk about the project today at the AGU fall meeting in San Francisco.
Ted's proposal for an agricultural adaptation project in the Pamir Mountains won a competition at MIT's Climate CoLab! "The good balance between research and indigenous participation make this a strong proposal," one judge commented. "The team has included social science in the development... and with those elements, has a chance of success with the integration of the communities."
Ted and friend of Bellwether Cynthia Caron will be presenting at MIT's Crowds and Climate conference on October 6 in Cambridge, where he'll also be meeting with partners from Cornell, Clark, Florida State, and UMass Lowell to discuss fundraising and implementation details.
